Chapter Summary

Stevie is a young boy who lives on a farm in Scotland. Every evening, he sees a house far away with windows shining like gold in the sunset. He becomes curious and decides to walk to that house to see it closely.

After a long walk, Stevie finally reaches the house. But he feels disappointed because the windows are not golden — they are just normal glass.

Paula, a girl who lives there, takes Stevie to the top of a hill. When he looks back toward his own home at sunset, he sees that his house also has golden windows. The sunlight is shining on the glass and making it glow.

Stevie understands something important: the golden color was only the light of the setting sun.

Core Message

Sometimes we think things far away are better or more special. But we may already have something just as special in our own lives.
